Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter was born on May 11, 1999, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, to David and Elizabeth (née Sneidar) Carptenter. She has three older sisters and was homeschooled. Sabrina and her siblings grew up in East Greenville. She began studying voice at the age of six and started posting videos on YouTube of herself singing songs of Christina Aguliera and Adele. Her father built a recording studio for her to fuel her passion for music.

Sabrina started her acting career in 2011, where she had a small role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In the summer of 2012 she had a recurring role in Fox’s sitcom The Goodwin Games. From 2013 to 2018 she had a recurring role in Sofia the First, and even recorded various songs for the show. In January 2013 she was cast as Maya Hart in Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, a spin-off series to Boy Meets World.

In March 2014 Sabrina released her debut single “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying“, which also marked the start of her debut era with her debut EP of the same name. Her debut studio album was released on April 14, 2015, named “Eyes Wide Open“. She released more singles, such as “Eyes Wide Open” and the standalone single “Smoke and Fire“.

In June 2016 she starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Adventures of Babysitting. Later that year, she appeared in a Pasadena Playhouse production of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell: A Pirate’s Christmas. Sabrina began voicing Melissa Chase on Milo Murphy’s Law. In October, she released her second studio album EVOlution. The album included her Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 song “Thumbs“. In autumn 2016 she embarked her first headlining concert tour, the EVOlution Tour.

In the summer of 2017 she embarked her second headlining concert tour, the De-Tour and opened for Ariana Grande during her Dangerous Woman Tour in São Paulo. Sabrina appeared in The Hate U Give, based on the novel of the same name in September of 2018. Her third studio album, Singular: Act I, was released on November 9, 2018. Originally set to be released as one album, she announced that the album would be split into two acts, with Singular: Act II being released in July 2019. In September her movie Tall Girl premiered on Netflix.

Sabrina had her Broadway debut in Mean Girls in March 2020. The show closed the day after her debut, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In July 2020 she released her song “Let Me Move You” for the Netflix film Work It, in which she starred and executive produced. Her Disney+ movie Clouds was released in October of 2020.

In 2022 Sabrina appeared in Netflix’s Tall Girl 2 and Amazon Studios Emergency. On July 15, 2022 she released her fifth studio album Emails I Can’t Send, which debuted and peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200. “Nonsense“, the album’s fifth single, went viral on TikTok, due to Sabrina’s iconic tour outros. Throughout 2023 and 2024 Sabrina opened The Eras Tour for Taylor Swift in Latin America, Australia and Singapore. On November 17, 2023, she released her Christmas EP Fruitcake.

On April 11, 2024, Sabrina released her single “Espresso“, which become her biggest hit to date. In August, she released her sixth studio album Short n’ Sweet. In September she embarked on her first arena tour, the Short n’ Sweet Tour.

Manchild” was released as the first single of her seventh studio album Man’s Best Friend in June 2025.
